A) School bell
-The school bell was used in the Mt. Sophia campus up till the early 1970s to signal the change of periods, recess and the start and end of the school day. It used to hang outside the office of the Primary School Principle and was rung manually by Ah Eng, the school attendent.
Cross-stitch stool
-Cross-stitch pieces were made by Lower Primary pupils during their Handwork lessons; these were then attched to the wooden legs of the stools by the teachers or parents. This cross-stitch stool was the work of Kng Poey Mui from the class of 1966. She donated it to the school.
C) A pair of speakers
-These were installed in classrooms, libraries, science and domestic science rooms, halls, tuckshop at Mt. Sophia. Daily devotions and announcements were relayed through them. Except for these, which were in the Board room (1960 to 1992), the others were replaced by more streamlined versions in 1973.
D) Photograph of the 100 steps
-The 100 steps were a favourite short cut taken by MGS girls from the Mt. Sophia campus to Handy Road where Cathay Cinema was.
E)Tiffin cattier
-This multi-tiered cake carrier was used in the 1940s to 1980s by a Peranakan lady who sold traditional local cakes(Nonya Kuehs) to the students in MGS. In the canteen during recess, she would lay out the trays which were filled with the cakes and the girls would choose cakes from the trays and paid for them. Each cake was priced at around 5 cents.
F) A photograph of a class outing
-This photograph was taken during a class trip to Kota Tinggi Waterfalls, 1936, for a picnic.
